Image Courtesy of Straight 8 EntertainmentBrad Whitford currently is on the road with Aerosmith, but once the band’s current North American summer trek winds down in early August, the guitarist will turn his attention to cool new project. The veteran rocker and Derek St. Holmes — the lead singer and rhythm guitarist on Ted Nugent‘s early solo albums — with whom Brad recorded the 1981 album Whitford/St. Holmes, are working on a brand-new album that they plan to support with a tour.

Whitford tells ABC Radio that he and St. Holmes began getting together to work on music because they both now live in the same town just outside of Nashville, which eventually motivated them to record a full album.

“We’ve been writing songs for probably…the last couple of years, and doing a lot of playing,” Whitford explains. “We play around town, around Nashville quite a bit. Yeah, we just decided we gotta do this record. We had so much material, we said, ‘Well, we better record this.’ It’s coming along really good.”

Brad says the project really got going once Tesla drummer Troy Luccketta agreed to take part in the proceedings.

“Once he came on board, we got right in the studio and went to work,” Whitford declares. “And it’s just coming out great.

Whitford/St. Holmes will kick off a tour in the fall, and already have four dates lined up in November. The group’s schedule current runs from a November 12 show in Milwaukee through a November 19 gig in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Brad tells ABC Radio, “We’ll be out playing wherever they’ll let us play.”

According to the band’s recently launched official website, Whitford/St. Holmes will be releasing a new single sometime in the fall, while the album is expected out in 2016. Rounding out the group’s lineup is veteran Nashville session bassist Chopper Anderson.
