WETMORE, Mich. – An event will be held at the Forest Glen General Store on Aug. 17 to commemorate the recent completion of a preventative maintenance project along Federal Forest Highway 13 in Alger County. The 12.5-mile-long, $346,000 pavement preservation project will improve the service life, increase the pavement friction, and provide new pavement markings, enhancing safety.

Who: State Sen. Tom Casperson, R-Escanaba; Alger County Road Commission officials; and Munising Township officials.

What: Casperson will join local officials to discuss the importance of the route’s preservation, as well as the federal grant funding, state of Michigan matching funds, and matching funds from Munising Township.

When: Monday, Aug. 17 at 10 a.m.
