Image Courtesy of Reckoning PRA special commemorative road marker paying tribute to Otis Redding will be unveiled later today, September 18, in Gray, Georgia, in honor of the late soul legend’s connection to the city. The marker, the result of a two-year campaign supported by the Redding family and the Otis Redding Memorial Committee, is located at the corner of Highway 11 and Highway 129 in downtown Gray.

The Otis Redding Memorial Marker is seven feet tall and seven feet wide, and has been designed to resemble an album sleeve. It features photos and other images celebrating the singer’s life and contributions, and also includes an interactive panel boasting a variety of songs by Redding.

The ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. ET and is being held in conjunction with the local as part of the Tunes & Spoons festival. Members of the Redding family will attend the unveiling, which will be followed by a tribute performance by the A2Z Band.

Redding lived on a ranch near Gray, Georgia, in the years prior his death in a December 1967 plane crash.
