Iso/Columbia RecordsThe cover art has been unveiled for David Bowie‘s upcoming studio album, the title of which is the symbol ★ and is pronounced Blackstar. The album cover features a large black star, with a series of other star-like images appearing in a line beneath it, on a white background.

★ can be pre-ordered now, and details have been announced about the various formats and configurations that are available for purchase. These include a standard CD, vinyl LP and digital download; a limited-edition clear-vinyl disc; and a variety of bundles that package the CD and LPs with one of three specially designed lithographs printed on heavyweight artwork paper. Deluxe bundles that include all three lithographs also are being sold.

In other news, ★’s title track will be released digitally and to all streaming platforms on Friday, November 20. As previously reported, a promotional video for the song will get its television premiere around the world beginning at 3:50 p.m. ET today on Palladia, at the end of a David Bowie video hour hosted by the cable channel. The clip will air again tonight at 8:50 p.m. ET. It also will debut online at Bowie’s official VEVO YouTube channel at 4:10 p.m. ET today. In addition, a special theatrical premiere screening of the video is taking place this afternoon at the Nitehawk Cinema in Brooklyn, New York.

Fans got their first taste of ★’s title track when it was used in the opening credits of the new European crime drama series The Last Panthers. Now comes word that the show will get its U.S. premiere in the spring of 2016 on Sundance TV.

★, the album, will be released January 8, 2016, which is Bowie’s 69th birthday.
