Best known outside of Australia for the 1966 top-20 hit “Friday on My Mind,” the Easybeats were Australia’s foremost rock export during the 1960s. In their native country the band scored three number-one singles including “Friday on My Mind.” In 2001 the song was voted the best Australian song of all time by the Australian Performing Rights Association.

After the Easybeats disbanded in 1969, Wright scored a three part number-one hit in Australia with “Evie (Parts 1,2 & 3) in 1974. His last performance came at 2009’s Legends of Rock festival in Byron Bay Australia.
