© Paul Natkin/Photo Reserve, Inc.John Mellencamp will headline a free concert in Phoenix on Sunday in conjunction with the festivities surrounding the College Football Playoff National Championship game. The show, which is part of the AT&T Playoff Playlist Live! concert series, also will feature American Authors and Moon Taxi.

The concert series, which runs from Friday through Sunday, is described as “a virtual playlist for every segment of the population that makes up the college football fan base.” The shows are taking place on Block 23 of downtown Phoenix between First, Second, Washington and Jefferson Streets. Gates open at noon MT, with performances starting at 5 p.m. MT.

The National Championship game is scheduled for Monday, January 11, at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Clemson will face Alabama in the game, which is scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN.

In other news, Mellencamp will appear on an AXS TV special featuring highlights from the 30th anniversary Farm Aid benefit concert, which will air Sunday at 8 p.m. ET. The 90-minute program, also will feature performances by Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews and other artists, and will include commentary by various musicians who took part in the show about the challenges independent and family farmers are facing today. Farm Aid 30 was held at FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago on September 19.
