ABC/Randy HolmesBette Midler is returning to Broadway. The singer will be starring in the revival of Hello, Dolly! that’s set to hit the Great White Way in 2017.

“I am looking forward to portraying one of the most beloved characters in all of American Musical Comedy, Dolly Levi, born Gallagher, in Hello, Dolly!” the Divine Miss M says in a statement. “I know I’m going to have the time of my life, and I am so glad to be under the wings of Scott Rudin as producer and Jerry Zaks as director. See you next year!”

Midler also confirms the news on Twitter, writing that she’s “so excited” to take on the role.

It’s the first time a new staging of the musical has appeared on Broadway in more than 50 years. It also marks Bette’s first time back on Broadway since 2013’s one-woman play I’ll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers.

Previews for Hello, Dolly! will begin on March 13, 2017, with an official opening night of April 20, 2017.

In other news, Midler has been added to the lineup of the two David Bowie tribute concerts that New York City entreprenuer Michael Dorf is organizing in the Big Apple. Dorf confirmed the news with a mesaage on his Twitter feed. The shows are scheduled for March 31 at Carnegie Hall and April 1 at Radio City Music Hall. For more information, visit MusicOf.org.
