Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot Madonna, who was born in Michigan, has stepped up for her home state.

Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon announced on Twitter that he was making a $10,000 donation to buy clean water and provide medical care for the residents of Flint, Michigan, whose drinking water has been contaminated for more than a year. Then, he challenged 10 friends to match his donation, and Madonna chimed in right away.

“You got it @jimmyfallon – matching your $10,000 donation! #WaterForFlint. Let’s all donate!!” she tweeted. Fallon replied, “Thank you Madonna. You’re always the first to step up.”

Madonna’s donation was followed by pledges from Rosie O’Donnell, Seth Meyers and Jon Cryer, with more to come, we presume.

The money will go to the Community Foundation for Greater Flint.

The residents of Flint, Michigan, haven’t had clean water to drink since 2014. In April of that year, the city started drawing its water from the Flint River, rather than from Detroit. The water has since been linked to a number of serious illnesses, and this past September, a group of doctors urged the city to stop using the Flint River after finding high levels of lead in the blood of children. President Obama declared a federal emergency in the city.

Other stars who’ve donated money or water to the cause include Pearl Jam, Eminem, Puff Daddy and Cher.
