Among the latest acts to join the bill are Rihanna, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, U.K. pop singer Ellie Goulding, gospel artist Yolanda Adams, country star Chris Stapleton and Florence + the Machine frontwoman Florence Welch.

Among the previously announced artists who will take part in the ever are Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Usher, Pharrell Williams, Demi Lovato and country stars Luke Bryan and Lady Antebellum. Jimmy Kimmel has been announced as the event’s host.

The MusiCares Person of the Year award is given to a musician in recognition of their artistic achievements, as well as their philanthropic efforts. Previous honorees include Wonder, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Carole King, Brian Wilson, Elton John, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Sting, James Taylor, Aretha Franklin, Neil Diamond, Don Henley, Phil Collins and Bono.

“I woke up one morning and someone pressed the go button to a dream, what I’m living right now is an absolute — someone let me in the room with the rest of them,” Richie says of the honor in a new interview with Pharrell. “I’m just honored to be here that’s the most important thing you have to understand. I am humbled by the acceptance, but also I’m actually honored to step forward.”

MusiCares is the charitable arm of the National Recording Academy of Arts & Sciences, which awards the Grammys. It provides programs and services to the music community, including emergency financial assistance for medical bills and treatment, as well as living expenses.

The 2016 MusiCares Person of the Year gala will be held February 13 in Los Angeles, two days before the 2016 Grammy Awards, which also will include a special tribute to Richie.
