At a private hearing in the family division of London’s High Court on Friday, a lawyer for the singer said she hopes to “heal the wounds” that have torn apart her family.

“Madonna wants to find a way in which this family can come together to heal the wounds that have been inflicted,” her lawyer David Williams told the judge, adding, “She very much hopes that the family can start the process of reaching a resolution for the problem.”

Madonna was not at the hearing in person because she is touring in Australia. Her lawyer said that once she finishes her tour, she wants to have a meeting with Guy and Rocco in New York. Guy has proposed talks in London instead.

The issue began late last year when Rocco refused to return to the U.S. to live with Madonna and opted to stay with his father in London. He remained there despite being ordered to return by a New York Supreme Court judge in December.

On March 3, hearings moved to London. The case will continue next week when the judge decides whether the proceedings launched by Madonna in the U.K. should end.
