Credit: Martin WebbLongtime Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre is preparing to return to the U.S. with his solo band next month for a new series of tour dates, and the veteran musician also has a bunch of stateside shows lined up in September and October. The first leg gets under way on April 10 in New York City and winds down with an April 30 concert in Salisbury, Massachusetts. The second series of performances runs from a September 7 show in Woodbridge, New Jersey, and currently is plotted out through an October 29-30 stand in Minneapolis.

The Martin Barre Band plays a mix of classic Jethro Tull songs and material from Barre’s solo albums, including selections from his latest studio effort, Back to Steel, which was issued in the U.K. in 2015 and will get its U.S. release later this year. His group also features singer Dan Crisp, drummer George Lindsay and bassist Alan Thomson.

Barre joined Jethro Tull in late 1968, after the band had released its debut album, This Was. He played on all of the group’s ensuing recordings, although he stopped touring with the band a few years ago.
