Monica Schipper/FilmMagicLast September marked four years since R.E.M. officially disbanded, and frontman Michael Stipe has pretty much kept a low profile since then, aside from a few one-off live gigs. But if you’re a fan who’s missed him, good news — he’ll appear Tuesday night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

As for why Stipe’s appearing? He doesn’t have any projects in the works, at least none anyone seems to know of, but he’s apparently performing on the broadcast. Regardless, it’ll be Stipe’s first TV appearance since his cameo as part of the all-star send-off on Stephen’s Colbert’s final edition of The Colbert Report in December, 2014. At least, that’s what Rolling Stone reports.

Stipe will also appear this coming Thursday and Friday at a pair of sold-out New York City tribute concerts for the late David Bowie, taking place at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall, respectively. Visit MusicOf.org for the latest info on the events.
