ABC/Randy HolmesLast year, Elton John got punk’d by two Russians who convinced him that Russian president Vladimir Putin had called him. After that, Elton and the real Putin agreed to meet at some point to discuss Russia’s record on gay rights. Now it appears as though the meeting might actually happen, and fairly soon, too.

Putin’s spokesman told reporters Monday during his daily briefing that when John comes to Moscow to perform on May 30, a meeting might be able to be arranged, as long as both of their schedules allow it.

Elton, who celebrated his 69th birthday this past Friday, has spoken out about Russia’s treatment of the LGBT community, and its 2013 law that bans “gay propaganda.”
