Credit: Rob ShanahanAfter initially scheduling a September 16 concert at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, Jeff Lynne’s ELO has added a second date at the famous venue, on September 18. Tickets for both shows are on sale now at select Ticketmaster locations, Ticketmaster.com and via phone by calling 800-745-3000800-745-3000 FREE.

Lynne’s ELO, a relaunched version of his old band Electric Light Orchestra, currently has a total of five concerts lined up in the U.S. this year — the New York City gigs and three previously announced at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, on September 9, 10 and 11. Meanwhile, the group kicked off a spring European tour leg last night in Liverpool, U.K., that runs through a May 5 performance in Oberhausen, Germany. The band also has a trio of summer shows in the U.K. scheduled for late June, including a June 26 appearance at the Glastonbury Festival.

ELO’s concerts are in support of the 2015 effort Alone in the Universe, the group’s first album of new original material since 2001’s Zoom.

Meanwhile, a video for the Alone in the Universe track “Ain’t It a Drag” premiered recently on Mojo magazine’s website, Mojo4Music.com. The quirky animated clip focuses on a rocky romance between a brain and a heart, and shows the claymation organs arguing over what TV program to watch and facing off in a colorfully lit chess match.

“‘Ain’t It a Drag’ began because I wanted a rocker for the album,” Lynne explained to Mojo. “You always need a rocker — at least I do. I was in the mood to do almost a Mersey Beat number and to me there’s something about ‘Ain’t It a Drag’ that sounds a bit like Mersey Beat. All these years later, that whole Mersey Beat thing still works!
