Credit: Neal PrestonAdam Lambert may have toured regularly with Queen over the last few years, but that doesn’t mean the former American Idol star would be interested in portraying Freddie Mercury in the upcoming biopic about the band’s late frontman. Instead, he has another role in mind.

“I’d want to be in bed with Freddie,” Lambert tells Digital Spy. “I think that would be appropriate at this point!”

The powerhouse singer adds, “I don’t usually say things on the record, but that’s the part I want. I want to be one of his lovers.”

Mercury co-founded Queen and fronted the group until his death from AIDS in 1991. Actor Ben Whishaw currently is expected to play Freddie in the film, after Sacha Baron Cohen dropped out of the project a few years ago.
