RhinoThe Monkees have unveiled the full official details about their forthcoming studio album, Good Times!, which originally had been scheduled for a June 10 release but now will hit stores on May 27.

The record, which is being issued in conjunction with the band’s 50th anniversary, features new vocal, musical and songwriting contributions from the group’s three surviving members — Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork — as well as an archival performance from the late Davy Jones.

Good Times! includes several tunes penned especially for the project by various respected rock songwriters, including Weezer‘s Rivers Cuomo, OasisNoel Gallagher and The Jam‘s Paul Weller, XTC‘s Andy Partridge, Death Cab for Cutie‘s Ben Gibbard and Fountains of Wayne‘s Adam Schlesinger, who also produced the album.

In addition, the record features newly finished versions of tracks that The Monkees began working on during the 1960s but didn’t complete, including the Harry Nilsson-penned title track, Neil Diamond‘s “Love to Love” and songs written by Carole King & Gerry Goffin, Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart and Jeff Barry & Joey Levine.

The song “Good Times” features Dolenz duetting with the guide vocal that the late Nilsson laid down when he began working on the tune in the late ’60s. “Love to Love”features vocals Jones recorded back in the day.Nesmith penned a tune called “I Know What I Know,” Tork wrote a track titled “Little Girl” and Dolenz co-wrote the album closer, “I Was There (and I’m Told I Had a Good Time),” with Schlesinger.

As previously reported, The Monkees will head out on an expansive 50th anniversary tour next month, although only Dolenz and Tork have signed on to take part. The trek gets under way on May 18 in Fort Myers, Florida, and currently is mapped out through an October 29 concert in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.

In related news, the entire Monkees TV series will be released on Blu-ray for the first time on June 24 as part of a limited-edition video box set. The 10-disc collection will feature high-definition footage restored from the original film negatives, a variety of previously unseen outtakes, The Monkees’ 1968 feature film Head and much more.
