Sam Erickson/44 PicturesKool & the Gang are celebrating their 50th anniversary with the Keeping the Funk Alive Tour kicking off July 22 in Charlotte.

The veteran band from Jersey City, New Jersey will be accompanied by Morris Day & the Time and on select dates the acts will be joined by Bootsy’s Rubber Band and classic rappers Doug E. Fresh and Big Daddy Kane. Cities will include New York, Detroit, Las Vegas, and Kansas City before the tour wraps up on August 28 in Los Angeles.

Kool & the Gang have sold more than 70 million records worldwide, winning two Grammys, and seven American Music Awards. The group received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in October 2015.
