Kevin Winter/Getty Images via ABCMadonna isn’t taking the shade BET threw at her — about her Prince tribute during last week’s Billboard Music Awards — too lightly.

Over the weekend, the entertainment icon struck back at a controversial tweet from the network via social media.

“Wearing the jacket Prince gave me back in the day without permission from BET. . lol! God Bless America,” the Material Girl posted to Instagram on Saturday while sharing a photo of her wearing a floral jacket and hat.

Madonna’s post comes after BET tweeted and then deleted an advertisement for their own Prince tribute during the BMAs, at which she sang a much-scrutinized version of “Nothing Compares 2 U”: “Yeah, we saw that. Don’t worry. We got you.”

Madonna followed up her first Instagram with a photo of herself wearing sunglasses, writing: “I Will Shade You. hahahhahahahhahah.”

On Sunday, BET responded to Madonna’s Instagram post. “Unfortunately, witty as this tweet is, it can’t turn back the clock on a performance that failed to cover the various roles and stages of the legend’s career,” BET’s Evelyn Diaz wrote in a note posted on the network’s website.
