ABC Photo Archives/ABC via Getty ImagesPrince‘s former backup band The Revolution has just announced plans for a set of reunion shows following the iconic singer’s death in April.

The band will play two shows, one each on September 2 and 3, at the Minneapolis venue First Avenue & 7th St Entry, which Prince and the group helped to make famous.

“When we first spoke to The Revolution, and the conversation turned to a possible reunion, it only seemed natural to bring them to First Avenue — to bring them home,” says First Avenue’s general manager Nate Kranz on the venue’s website.

The Revolution, comprised of Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Brown Mark, Dr. Fink and Bobby Z, also made a statement about the forthcoming live event.

“Only by playing for you, the fans, can we be Prince’s Revolution. He gives Us 2 one another now, as we all heal and fill forever emptiness with sound. 2gether, we are The Revolution,” says the band.

Tickets for both nights go on sale this Friday, July 8, at 11 a.m. CT.
