Courtesy of Stephen BishopVeteran singer/songwriter Stephen Bishop, best known for his pop hits “On and On” and “It Might Be You,” will release a new studio album titled Blueprint on July 29. The record, a follow-up to 2014’s Be Here Then, features new versions of various songs Bishop wrote or co-wrote over the course of his long career.

Among the tunes on Blueprint is an updated rendition of “It Might Be You,” which was featured in the 1983 film Tootsie and received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. Blueprint also includes Bishop’s version of “Holy Mother,” a tune that he co-wrote with Eric Clapton and that the guitar legend recorded for his 1986 album August.

Bishop says of the new album, “I had been listening to old demos of mine. I picked the best songs of my past and got a great producer named Jon Gilutin. We used the demos as a kind of blueprint to where we were going with the new recording.”

He adds, “I’m very proud of this new album Blueprint. I think it’s one of my best albums.”

Bishop currently has only a few dates on his tour itinerary, including a July 23 date in Honolulu with Ambrosia, and a September 26-29 engagement at the Eastern States Exposition, a.k.a. The Big E, in West Springfield, Massachusetts.
