RhinoThis November marks the 40th anniversary of The Band‘s star-studded farewell concert, The Last Waltz, and to commemorate the milestone, four special releases featuring audio and video footage from the show will hit stores soon.

A four-CD/Blu-ray Deluxe Edition package, a six-LP Deluxe Edition Vinyl collection and a two-CD set will be released on November 11, while a four-CD/two-Blu-ray Collector’s Edition will arrive on December 9.

The Last Waltz concert took place on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1976, at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom. The show marked the final live performance of The Band’s original lineup — Levon Helm, Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko, Richard Manuel and Garth Hudson — and featured an astounding lineup of guest musicians, including Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters, Neil Diamond, Dr. John, Ronnie Wood and Ringo Starr. The event was filmed for a famous 1978 concert film and documentary that was directed by Martin Scorsese.

The Last Waltz‘s Deluxe Edition will feature a remastered version of the original two-disc soundtrack, bonus audio outtakes and rehearsal performances and a Blu-ray containing the film. The deluxe vinyl package will include six 180-gram LPs featuring the remastered soundtrack and the bonus audio content. The two-CD collection simply will feature the remastered soundtrack.

The Collector’s Edition contains the same CDs and Blu-ray disc featured in the Deluxe Edition, plus an extra Blu-ray that includes a rare 1990s interview with Scorsese and Robertson, a photo gallery and 5.1 audio mix of the Last Waltz soundtrack. It also boasts a 300-page book featuring a a replica of the director’s Last Waltz shooting script, previously unseen photos, set sketches and a Scorsese-penned foreword and more.
