Credit: Timothy WhiteJames Taylor‘s 2006 album James Taylor at Christmas remains a holiday favorite each year, and now the singer/songwriter has signed on to perform some festive classics at a high-profile event this December: the 94th annual National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.

The event takes place December 1 on the Ellipse at President’s Park on the grounds of the White House, and the performance will air December 2 on the Hallmark Channel. As previously reported, pop star Kelly Clarkson also is on the bill, as are gospel singer Yolanda Adams and rising hip-hop artist Chance the Rapper.

Free tickets for the event will be awarded through an online lottery, which begins at 10 a.m. on Friday closes on October 10. Visit TheNationalTree.org and click on the ticket lottery link. You’ll find out on October 27 if you’ve got the tickets.

Earlier this year, Taylor released Before This World, his first new album of original material since 2002. It became his first U.S. #1 album.
