PS RecordsA kiss is on John Oates‘ Christmas wish list in a new holiday single titled “Santa Be Good to Me,” which the Hall & Oates singer has just released. Oates co-wrote the tune, and recorded it in Nashville with Grammy-nominated Western swing collective The Time Jumpers, whose lineup includes country star Vince Gill.

A limited-edition vinyl version of the single can be purchased now at JohnOates.com and HallandOates.com, with a rendition of the Christmas spiritual “Children Go Where I Send Thee” on the B-side. Autographed copies of the disc also are available, while a digital version of the single is being sold at iTunes, Google Play and other online music sellers.

“Santa Be Good to Me” is a tune that’s sung from the perspective of a lovelorn man who hopes Santa Claus will help him find romance during the holidays.

Oates says of the tune, “I’ve always wanted to write and record a swing style [Christmas] song. It reminds me of the music that my folks listened to when I was a young kid.”

John adds that he and co-writers Josh Charles, Steven Davis and Allisa Moreno “tried to write a contemporary lyric talking about trying to find love and companionship in a modern world and still not lose the holiday spirit.”

As for collaborating with The Time Jumpers, Oates says, “The first time I heard them perform I was blown away by their high level of musicianship and knew someday I wanted to record with them. ‘Santa Be Good to Me’ felt like the perfect song to work on together.”
