Courtesy of Vanilla FudgeVanilla Fudge has been delivering its psychedelic-flavored rock for 50 years, and the band is celebrating the milestone by heading out on the “50 and Still Rocking” tour, which kicks off tonight in Sellersville, Pennsylvania. The trek, which currently features about a dozen dates, is mapped out through an April 22 show in Palm Springs, California.

The group is planning to add more concerts to its itinerary soon, including orchestral shows and joint gigs with other well-known acts.

The current Vanilla Fudge lineup includes three of the band’s four original members — singer/keyboardist Mark Stein, drummer Carmine Appice and singer/guitarist Vince Martell — as well as bassist Pete Bremy, who joined the group in 2008. The band is best-known for its epic cover of The Supremes‘ “You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” which reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1967. Most recently, the group released a 2015 studio album called Spirit of ’67, which features new renditions of various classic rock, pop and soul songs from that year.

Reflecting on his band’s longevity, Stein says, “There are very few acts that can say they lasted 50 years with the majority of their original members intact…There is a very special chemistry to the Fudge that only the four of us can create.”

Adds Appice, “We are doing what we have always done best: taking timeless pop and soul classics and giving them a completely new musical landscape. The songs are always familiar but they have never sounded like this before.”

Vanilla Fudge’s 50th anniversary plans also include the release of a new concert CD/DVD called Live at Sweden Rocks, details of which will be announced soon.
