Credit: Joseph SinnottJoan Baez will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April, but the 76-year-old folk legend won’t be resting on her laurels after receiving the honor. Baez will team up with the folk-rock duo The Indigo Girls and veteran country-folk singer Mary Chapin Carpenter for the Four Voices Tour. The two-week trek will kick off June 3 in Nashville and wind down with a June 17 performance in Lenox, Massachusetts.

The idea for the tour came about when The Indigo Girls — Amy Ray and Emily Saliers — and Carpenter took part in Baez’s star-studded 75th birthday concert last year at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. Joan’s friendship with the other three artists dates back to 1991, when she invited Ray and Saliers to take part in a benefit for her human-rights organization Humanitas in Berkeley, California, and the duo suggested she also add Carpenter to the lineup.

The four singers also have performed together at an Earth Day Celebration in Boston and at the Newport Folk Festival.
