Raisin’ Music Records/Chicago Blues ExperienceMick Jagger has collaborated with blues great Buddy Guy on a new version of The Rolling Stones‘ “Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker).” The team-up appears on a new album featuring Chicago blues-style renditions of Stones songs.

Chicago Plays The Stones features a mix of contemporary and veteran artists from the Windy City’s blues scene performing a selection of Rolling Stones tunes spanning the 1960s to the ’90s.

The project was produced by Grammy-nominated producer Larry Skoller in partnership with the Chicago Blues Experience, a museum slated to open in 2019 that celebrates the city’s blues heritage. The album was inspired by the current Chicago run of The Stones’ Exhibitionism exhibit, which will remain on display at the city’s Navy Pier until July 30.

“The idea was to bring a set of Stones songs ‘back home’ by playing them with a Chicago blues groove,” Skoller explains. “To imagine them as tunes played by Muddy [Waters], Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter, Jimmy Reed and the other Chicago blues icons The Stones have idolized and covered.”

Jagger lends his vocal and harmonica talents to the new version of “Heartbreaker.” ChicagoBusiness.com reports that Mick offered to contribute to Guy’s track after hearing about the project from longtime Stones producer Don Was.

The album is available on CD and as a digital download online at ChicagoPlaysTheStones.com. Half of the proceeds raised by sales of the album will benefit the nonprofit Chicago Blues Experience Foundation.

Other musicians who are featured on Chicago Plays The Stones include ex-Bo Diddley sideman Billy Boy Arnold and former Muddy Waters guitarist Bob Margolin.
