Capitol//UMeA new Beach Boys compilation titled 1967 — Sunshine Tomorrow that focuses on recordings the band made during sessions for its 1967 albums Wild Honey and Smiley Smile will be released on June 30. The collection, which will be available as a two-CD set and digital download, will feature the first-ever stereo mix of Wild Honey, as well as previously unreleased studio outtakes, alternate versions, live performances and more.

After The Beach Boys shelved Brian Wilson‘s complex Smile project, the band decided to record in a more easygoing fashion utilizing Wilson’s new home studio. The resulting albums, Smiley Smile and Wild Honey, were released, respectively, in September and December 1967. Wild Honey reached #24 on the Billboard 200 and yielded two top 40 hits — “Darlin'” and the title track.

Disc one of 1967 — Sunshine Tomorrow features the stereo mix of Wild Honey, session outtakes from the album and live versions of songs that appear on Wild Honey recorded from 1967 to 1970.

The second disc of the compilation features outtakes from the Smiley Smile sessions; the shelved Lei’d in Hawaii album, which was conceived as a live album but was made up mainly of performances recorded in a Los Angeles studio; a few unreleased songs actually recorded live in Hawaii for the aforementioned album; and some Beach Boys concert performances recorded in November 1967 in Boston and Washington, D.C.

A vinyl version of the new stereo mix of Wild Honey will be released on the same day as the 1967 — Sunshine Tomorrow compilation.
