UMeRingo Starr‘s upcoming album, Give More Love, is due out September 15, and includes two songs featuring contributions by his old Beatles band mate, Paul McCartney. Now, RollingStone.com is hosting a first listen to one of those tunes — “We’re on the Road Again,” which also features the talents of Ringo’s brother-in-law Joe Walsh, plus Edgar Winter, and Toto‘s Steve Lukather, who co-wrote the song with Starr.

“We’re on the Road Again” is an upbeat, rocking tune that celebrates the joys of touring. “We play really tight, we play really loud/We’re gonna kick ass, and rock up the crowd,” Starr sings. “We’re gonna play some rock ‘n’ roll, that’s true/And we’re headin’ down the highway and playing for you…We’re on the road again!”

McCartney, Walsh, Winter and Lukather all contribute backing vocals to the track, which features blazing guitar work by Steve, who’s also in Ringo’s All Starr Band. In addition, Sir Paul can be heard singing prominently alongside Ringo near the end of the tune, and also plays a bass solo that brings the track to a close.

McCartney also is featured on a song called “Show Me the Way,” another tune that Starr co-wrote with Lukather. Other artists featured on Give More Love are Eagles bassist Timothy B. Schmit, Mr. Mister‘s Richard Page, EurythmicsDave Stewart, Richard Marx, and Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench.

To support the album, Ringo will be hitting the road with his All-Starr Band for a fall trek that kicks off with an eight-show residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas starting October 13.
