Credit: Roger DeanYes‘ first-ever touring version of its Yestival prog-rock fest gets underway tonight, August 4, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Todd Rundgren and Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy also will appear at most concerts during the North American trek, although some dates will showcase just one support act, while others will only feature Yes.

Yes’ current lineup will be augmented by a second drummer during the summer outing — longtime guitarist Steve Howe‘s son, Dylan.

In a new Q&A about the Yestival tour, Yes keyboardist Geoff Downes shares some details about the set Yes has prepared for the outing.

“A track from each of the first 10 albums, sequentially, and a couple of encore staples,” reports Downes, adding that the show also will feature lasers and a set designed by longtime Yes cover artist Roger Dean.

Rundgren, meanwhile, says he’ll be playing a number of tunes from his latest album, the star-studded White Knight, as well as some material from his old prog-influenced band, Utopia — “for those who really want to relive the old days.”

Palmer, whose ELP Legacy project celebrates his former band, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, says that because his group only will be playing for 30 minutes, they “will need to focus on the shorter, radio hits of ELP; things like ‘Hoedown’ and ‘Lucky Man.'” That being said, Carl reveals that the band also will play some unexpected material.
