Michael SandersonFollowing a successful club tour earlier this year where he performed the Adam & The Ants classic, Kings of the Wild Frontier, in its entirety, punk pioneer and new wave icon Adam Ant returns to the States with an expanded tour kicking off today.

Anthems – the Singles Tour, will visit theaters and casinos where Adam will play his classic chart-topping singles as well as B sides, rarities and personal favorites.

For Adam, this isn’t just a greatest hits tour for people on an ’80s nostalgia trip.

“I don’t just think, ‘Oh, this an eighties tour,'” the singer tells ABC Radio. “To me, I’m trying to get the songs sounding as best as I can – and I don’t do medleys. I don’t ‘medley out’ so you know, ‘here’s a trip down Memory lane…’ I think that way it can stay contemporary and fresh for me, and as long as it’s contemporary and fresh for me, then hopefully that’ll be what the audience experiences and how they feel, too.”

Adam isn’t slowing down, either. A new album, tentatively titled, Bravest of the Brave, is coming after this tour.

The singer says, “I’ll do the Anthems tour, finish that, then come back with something new that will be all the songs that I’m working on, finally done. Right now that’s not the case, but that’s quite a good thing because you get to make improvements and you get new ideas and fresh ideas because you’ve taken a bit more time. So I’m in no rush but when it’s ready, it’ll be ready.” (AUDIO IS ABC 1-ON-1)
