Albert Llop/Anadolu Agency/Getty ImagesBesides playing guitar for The Rolling Stones, Ronnie Wood is an accomplished painter, and the famous rocker’s interest in art — and the arts — will be the focus of a new U.K. series premiering next year on the Sky Arts network.

Ronnie Wood: Artist in Residence will follow Wood as he visits some of the most famous U.K. cultural institutions, where he will learn about their history and the behind-the-scenes workings, while discovering what makes each so special. Among the venues and institutions that will welcome Ronnie will be the Royal Opera House, the Royal Albert Hall, Shakespeare’s Theatre and Sadler’s Wells Theatre.

Wood also will create paintings and sketches during his various visits while reflecting on his experiences at the various institutions.

Meanwhile, Sky Arts has announced that new episodes of its Urban Myths series also will premiere next year, including shows that humorously dramatize a 1973 encounter Alice Cooper had with surrealist painter Salvador Dali; and the first time David Bowie met T. Rex frontman Marc Bolan, when they both were teenagers.
