Andrew Lipovsky/NBCNothing says happy holidays like Darlene Love‘s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” and on Monday’s Tonight Show, the legendary rock & roller brought back a late night tradition, joining host Jimmy Fallon, The Roots and guest Anna Kendrick in the Tonight Show Music Room for a performance of the modern holiday classic — performed with classroom instruments.

In the recurring segment, Fallon and his house band The Roots back music artists for a version of one of their popular songs using instruments you would find in a classroom, like tambourines, xylophones, hand clappers and kazoos.

Love’s performance of the song during David Letterman‘s tenure on CBS’ The Late Show became a holiday tradition that lasted 28 years, and she even told Vanity Fair back in 2014 that she would retire the song from late night television after Letterman retired.

Other artists that have joined Fallon for classroom versions of their songs include Metallica, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, One Direction, Mariah Carey and Madonna.
