According to Britain’s The Sun, Beatles drummer Ringo Starr will be joining former band mate Paul McCartney in knighthood.

The paper reports that Ringo will be among those scheduled to be conferred knighthood when Britain’s New Year’s Honors are announced later this week.

Macca was knighted in 1997 and according to the tabloid Ringo believed he was never going to receive the honor until he got a letter from Buckingham Palace last week.

“Ringo was totally knocked sideways but is chuffed to bits,” The Sun quotes an unnamed family friend as saying.
