John Shearer/Getty Images via ABCAustralia has just legalized same-sex marriage, so it’s only fitting that one of the world’s biggest gay icons would grace the country with a special performance in 2018.

The Sydney Morning Herald quotes sources as telling its parent company, Fairfax Media, that Cher is “almost locked in” to headline Sydney’s 40th gay and lesbian Mardi Gras celebration in March.

The 71-year-old legend seemingly teased the performance by tweeting earlier this month, “Where am I going in March!?” And the Australian Radio Network published an online story claiming that Cher was “officially coming to town,” before retracting the story.

The March 3 event will see about 12,000 people from 200 groups marching along Sydney’s Oxford Street. The 30th Mardi Gras in Sydney was headlined by another gay icon, Cyndi Lauper.
