Courtesy of The Doobie BrothersThe Doobie Brothers recently announced that they’ll be hitting the road with Steely Dan for an expansive North American tour that kicks off in May, but now the veteran rockers also have lined up a series of headlining shows that will precede the trek.

The new run of concerts, nine in all, gets underway April 6 in Rancho Mirage, California, and is plotted out through an April performance in Salina, Kansas. The Doobies also have joined the bill of The Eagles‘ September 22 show at PETCO Park in San Diego, which already features Zac Brown Band as a support act.

Interestingly, The Doobie Brothers played with both The Eagles and Steely Dan at The Classic West and The Classic East festivals held July 15 and July 29, respectively, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and Citi Field in New York City. The Doobies and The Eagles also shared a bill at The Classic Northwest concert on September 30 at Safeco Field in Seattle.

The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan tour, dubbed “The Summer of Living Dangerously,” is scheduled to run from a May 10 show in Charlotte, North Carolina, through a July 14 gig at Bethel, New York.

“We’re excited to get back on the road this year and have a great set lined up for our audiences this spring,” say The Doobies in a statement. “We look forward to touring with Steely Dan in the summer, and we’re happy to share the stage again with the Eagles in the fall. It’s going to be a great year.”
