ABC/Fred WatkinsStevie Wonder will be heading to Louisville, Kentucky, in May to perform at an event celebrating the 144th running of the Kentucky Derby.

The Motown legend will headline the second annual edition of The Trifecta Gala, scheduled to take place on Friday, May 4, the eve of the famous horse race, at the new Omni Hotel — Louisville.

Comedian Sinbad will host the event, which benefits a couple of local charities: the University of Louisville Autism Center at Kosair Charities and the West End School, a private college-prep grade school for boys and young men. Additional performers will be announced soon.

The event was founded by former NBA star Junior Bridgeman and this year will be hosted by his children, Eden, Justin and Ryan Bridgeman.

“We want to give our guests a world-class experience as they celebrate this special time of year in Kentucky,” Eden Bridgeman says in a statement.

People interested in attending the event can call 502-238-2097 or visit for more info.

The Kentucky Derby is held annually at Churchill Downs in Louisville. This year’s race tales place on Saturday, May 5.
