earMUSICAs part of Foreigner‘s 40th anniversary tour last year, the band played two special concerts with accompaniment from a 58-piece orchestra and 60-voice choir in May in Lucerne, Switzerland. Now, highlights from the sold-out shows will be released in various formats under the title Foreigner with the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus on April 27.

The concerts featured Foreigner playing many of its classic songs backed by the symphony and choir, with new orchestral arrangements created by Juilliard-trained cellist, pianist and composer Dave Eggar and producer, writer and percussionist Chuck Palmer.

Foreigner with the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus will be available on CD, as a double-LP vinyl set and digitally, while a CD/DVD digipak version will be sold exclusively via Walmart. In addition, an hour-long version of the show is being prepared for broadcast television.

“I could never have imagined when I set out to create Foreigner 40 years ago, that we’d still be touring around the world and performing the music we love all these years later,” says founding guitar/songwriter Mick Jones. “Dave Eggar and Chuck Palmer’s orchestral arrangements have shown us a new symphonic dimension of our music, which I hope our fans will enjoy.”

Foreigner will be bringing its orchestral show to the U.S. for a series of eight dates, running from a March 16 concert in St. Augustine, Florida, through an April 4 performance in Duluth, Minnesota. Accompanying the band will be the Dave Eggar Orchestra.

As previously reported, Foreigner’s 2018 itinerary also includes a lengthy U.S. summer trek with Whitesnake and Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening, as well as a variety of headlining dates.
