Live NationBilly Idol is among the guest singers who will perform at Above Ground, a benefit concert raising funds for mental health treatment that will take place April 16 at The Belasco Theater in Los Angeles.

Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro and Billy Idol guitarist Billy Morrison will host the event, which also will feature performances by Courtney Love, Slipknot/Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor, Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes and others. During the concert, the musicians will be playing two albums in their entirety — The Velvet Underground‘s debut, The Velvet Underground & Nico, and Adam and the AntsKings of the Wild Frontier.

Navarro and Morrison will lead a house band that also will feature Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney, Billy Idol drummer Erik Eldenius and Devo/ex-Guns N’ Roses drummer Josh Freese. In addition to the musical performances, the event will celebrate the vinyl LP as an art form.

In a promo video about the concert, Morrison explains, “After losing too many friends to suicide and depression, and having suffered personally with a wide range of mental health issues, we want to raise awareness and funds for the treatment of mental health…We hope you’ll join us and support this vital cause, and spread the word that it’s OK to ask for help.”

Proceeds from Above Ground will be donated to MusiCares, the charitable arm of the Recording Academy. Tickets go on sale this Saturday, February 24, via LiveNation.com. and Ticketmaster.com.
