ParlophoneWhen “David Bowie is,” the expansive exhibition focusing on the late rock legend’s multifaceted career, opens this Friday at the Brooklyn Museum in New York, two special vinyl discs will be available exclusively at the exhibit’s gift shop.

One of the limited-edition offerings is a silver-vinyl seven-inch release replicating a 1973 Bowie single featuring a single edit of his song “Time” on the A side and “The Prettiest Star” on the B side. The disc comes housed in a picture sleeve.

The other exclusive release is the eight-track mini LP Live in Berlin (1978), which is pressed onto orange vinyl. The disc features performances from a May 16, 1978, show that Bowie played in the German city. Four of the eight songs have never been released, while three others were only available for a limited time recently as part of a streaming-only digital EP.

The “David Bowie is” exhibit store also will be selling a vinyl compilation, iSelect, that’s only been available in limited numbers at shops at the exhibition’s other stops. The LP, which is pressed on red vinyl, features tracks personally chosen by Bowie, as well as sleeve notes penned by David. Most of the songs are studio versions that appeared on his original albums. Exceptions include a rendition of “Hang On to Yourself” from Live Santa Monica ’72 and a remix of “Time Will Crawl” that made its vinyl debut on iSelect.

The “David Bowie is” retrospective’s run at the Brooklyn Museum, which ends July 15, will be the exhibit’s final stop. The display, which debuted in 2013 at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum, features more than 300 items from the late Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s archives.
