Daniel Knighton/Getty ImagesDespite its impending May 18th release date, Steve Miller says he’s not done putting together his 50th anniversary boxed set.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tells Pollstar that he’s still reviewing “4,000 pictures and 10 hours of music and 20 hours of video” for the set, which will be called Complete Albums Volume 1 (1968-1976). Miller says his retrospective will contain a 100-page book, and the artwork for that has been particularly difficult to choose.

He also reveals that since moving to New York five years ago, he’s decided to write an autobiography.

“I’m serious about it,” he said. “[Since moving to the city] I’ve fallen in with so many smart people and good writers. It’s just really a great place to be if you’re going to be doing this kind of work.”

But first, the boxed set. It’ll spans Miller’s career from 1968’s Children of the Future through the multiplatinum Fly Like an Eagle, all on 180-gram vinyl. All nine albums will be available individually as well.

Meanwhile, limited-edition colored-vinyl versions of the albums, with each disc boasting a different color or colors, will be sold individually and as a box set exclusively at uDiscoverMusic.com. In addition, HD digital audio versions of each of the nine albums have been released.

Miller is having to fit in last-minute adjustments to the boxed set between tour dates. The Steve Miller Band is on tour with Peter Frampton through the end of August. In honor of the tour, a video of Steve Miller and company performing a cover of Elmore James‘ “Stranger Blues” with Frampton at an August 2017 in Costa Mesa, California, is available on the Miller Band’s official VEVO YouTube channel.
