The show, which is produced by Simmons and Chris Philip, CEO of Sierra/Engine Television, will challenge musicians to form rock bands. Simmons will serve in a motivational role as the bands evolve in front of an audience, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Simmons explained that “Coliseum is a no-holds-barred competition show between musical gladiators in the arena fighting to survive, fighting to be the champion, fighting to curry the favor of Rock Caesar.”

Naturally the “Rock Caesar” will be Simmons himself, who will vote thumb’s up or down as the bands in the arena compete to win.

Simmons, of course, is no stranger to reality television, having starred in his own Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels. Other TV shows of his include Gene Simmons’ Rock School for VH1. AMC is also airing Simmons’ and KISS band mate Paul Stanley‘s reality show 4th and Loud, about the arena football team owned by the pair.
