Frank Ockenfels/The Kennedy CenterIt’s hard to believe, but in his five-decade career, Neil Diamond has never performed in his hometown of Brooklyn, NY. All that will change, however, come September 29.

On that day, Diamond will give a special performance at a “surprise location” in Brooklyn, NY at 6 p.m. It’s so secret, he’s not even announcing the location until 8 a.m. that day, via his Twitter and Facebook accounts. Tickets will then be available on a first-come, first-served basis

The concert announcement comes on the heels of the news that Diamond will release a new album, Melody Road, Oct. 21. As previously reported, the 12-track collection is the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s first release for Capitol Records under a new deal. It’ll arrive packaged with a 36-page book that includes the lyrics and chords to each tune.
