The Mustangs

The Mustangs look to improve to 4-1 in 2014 this Friday vs. Manistique!

MUNISING, MI – 9/24/2014 –The Munising Mustangs won their third in a row last Friday after starting off 0-1 in 2014.  They’ll look to continue their success by hosting their former MPC rival, the Manistique Emeralds (1-3).  The Emeralds have struggled against most of their competition this season, winning only one game on the road in Gwinn who is 0-4.  The Mustangs will need to stay diligent in the box, as the Emeralds do have some versatility in the backfield.  They’ll have to stop players like Mike Brock up the middle, who is a big, bruising fullback that few can tackle on their own.  The Emeralds also feature a decent outside running attack with a speedy quarterback-running back combo.

The Mustangs offense should be able to put enough points on the board to secure a victory if the defense plays up to snuff.  The Mustangs haven’t scored less than 30 points since the first game of the season (against a very good West Iron County team on the road), and the defense hasn’t allowed more than 12 points since that first loss.  Meanwhile, the Emeralds haven’t allowed less than 28 points defensively in a game, and in their three losses, haven’t scored more than 14 points.  It all looks good going into the game on paper for the Mustangs, but like other games in U.P. football this week, the Mustangs cannot underestimate their opponent this week.

Join Charlie Nebel this Friday night as the Munising Mustangs will host the Manistique Emeralds!  Pre-game is scheduled to begin around 6:30pm with a 7pm kickoff!  Go Mustangs!
