Host Conan O’Brien‘s salute to Harrison coincides with the release this week of an eight-disc box set titled George Harrison: The Apple Years 1968-75.

After his performance, Simon sat down with O’Brien and talked about once visiting Harrison at his sprawling Friar Park estate in England. Simon said Harrison enjoyed playing the ukulele and had a lot of them. “He’d give you a ukulele and say, ‘Let’s play,’” Simon recalled.

Simon said Harrison also had a great jukebox “containing all the music he listened to as a kid.” Simon said it “was pretty much all the music” he had also listened to as a kid.

Beatles fans may remember that Simon and Harrison performed “Here Comes the Sun” together during a 1976 appearance on Saturday Night Live. They also performed the Simon and Garfunkel tune “Homeward Bound” on the same show.

George Harrison Week on Conan began Monday with Beck performing “Wah-Wah.”

George’s son, Dhani Harrison, is scheduled to appear on Wednesday’s show. Norah Jones will perform on Conan on Thursday night.

Conan airs Monday through Thursday at 11 p.m. ET on TBS.
