Business WireIn honor of The Who‘s 50th anniversary, a new compilation is hitting stores next month, including the band’s first new music in eight years.

A new song, “Be Lucky,” will be featured on Who Hits 50!, a two-disc retrospective of hits and rarities. In addition to Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, the track features long-time Who cohorts Zak Starkey and Pino Palladino on drums and bass, respectively, and keyboards courtesy of Mick Talbot, formerly of The Style Council. The song was produced by Dave Eringa, who recently produced the album Daltrey made with Wilko Johnson. The royalties from the track will go to Teen Cancer America, the charity that Daltrey and Townshend founded in 2011.

As for the rest of the material, the earliest track is “Zoot Suit,” the band’s very first single, which they released as The High Numbers, a name that their then-manager, Pete Meaden, had foisted upon them. After the song failed, the band changed their name back to The Who.

The rest of the disc includes all the big songs you’d expect, from “I Can’t Explain,” “My Generation,” “Pinball Wizard” and “Magic Bus” to “Baba O’Riley,” “Bargain,” “Who Are You,” “You Better You Bet” and “Eminence Front.” But there are also quite a few tracks that will likely only be familiar to die-hard Who fans, among them “Dogs,” “Postcard,” “Call Me Lightning” and the band’s version of The Rolling Stones‘ “The Last Time.”

The Who’s 50th anniversary tour kicks off on November 26 in Dublin, Ireland.
