Lawrence WatsonAfter undergoing a procedure to have a tumor removed earlier this year, former Dr. Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson says he is now cancer-free.

Commenting on the procedure to the BBC, the 67-year-old musician says the tumor weighed more than six pounds and that “they got it all. They cured me.”

Johnson was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer in 2012. He says that at the time he was convinced he would die from the disease. Now, he says, “I’m spending my time gradually coming to terms with the idea that my death is not imminent, that I am going to live on.”

Johnson — who released a collaborative album with The Who‘s Roger Daltrey earlier this year, Going Back Home — spoke with the BBC Wednesday in London at the Q Awards, where he accepted the Icon Award.
