Library of CongressIt’s lucky 13 for Billy Joel, who just announced his 13th headlining show at New York’s Madison Square Garden as part of his ongoing residency there. The residency, the first of its kind, began in January of 2014 and he’s been playing one show per month since then — something he’s promised to do “as long as there is interest.”

If Billy sells out this 13th show — which will take place January 9, 2015 — he’ll become the first solo artist to sell out 13 consecutive shows at Madison Square Garden in a single run. The previous record — 12 sold-out shows — was set by Billy himself back in 2006. Tickets for the January show go on sale November 14.

The January show will be Billy’s 59th overall show at the legendary New York venue, which means he’s inching ever closer to the record set by his frenemy, Elton John, who’s done 64: the most by any artist ever.

MSG Network will debut Billy Joel Home at the Garden — a half-hour special documenting the first year of the franchise — on Monday, November 10 at 11 p.m., right after the Knicks’ home game against the Atlanta Hawks. The show will repeat Tuesday at 10:30 p.m.
