Metropolitan EntertainmentHot Tuna‘s Jack Casady and Jorma Kaukonen will reunite with their former Jefferson Airplane band mate Marty Balin on Saturday at a special concert celebrating Casady’s 70th birthday at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. Hot Tuna will perform with its “Electric” incarnation at the show, dubbed Jack’s 70th Birthday Bash, while Balin and acclaimed session guitarist G.E. Smith will appear as special guests.

Hot Tuna’s lineup for the concert also will feature multi-instrumentalists Barry Mitterhoff and Larry Campbell, singer Teresa Williams, and drummer Justin Guip. Casady and Kaukonen formed the folk-blues outfit in 1969 while still members of Jefferson Airplane, and the duo has performed under the moniker ever since.

“I can’t remember having so much fun, but also musically being so in touch and in the moment with the music as I am now; where every minute, every note counts on stage, says Casady, who actually turned 70 April 13. “And I find it really unique that I have a situation with a partner over 50 years now where we can just really enjoy the craft of making music together.”

Playing the Beacon around the holidays has become a tradition for Hot Tuna. Meanwhile, the “Acoustic” version of the group, featuring just Jack and Jorma, has a trio of West Coast shows lined up in the coming weeks, including a New Year’s Eve concert at the Aladdin Theater in Portland, Oregon.

Here are all of Hot Tuna’s upcoming tour dates:

12/13 — New York, NY, The Beacon Theatre
12/31 — Portland, OR, The Aladdin Theater
1/3/15 — San Francisco, CA, The Fillmore
1/4 — Grass Valley, CA, The Center for the Arts
