Courtesy Rubén Martin/RCA RecordsIs Carlos Santana the uncle of the next “American Idol”? Could be! The guitar legend’s nephew Adam Lasher was among the contestants that were shown trying out for Fox’s singing competition show on Thursday’s American Idol episode, which was taped in New Orleans.

Lasher, who hails from Danville, California, chose to sing an original song for the audition, accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. Judge Keith Urban loved his voice and his artistry. Fellow judges Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. agreed and all three voted “yes” for Adam to advance.

Prior to his audition, Adam told host Ryan Seacrest that his uncle taught him how to play guitar.

“Sometimes the proverbs or the wisdom that he’s saying is just like a deeper lesson than just like, ‘Hey, this is a barre chord and this is this scale and this is that scale,'” Lasher explained. “He’s just like a Jedi with a guitar.”

The segment, which has been posted on the American Idol YouTube channel, also included a clip of Adam performing onstage with his Uncle Carlos.

Incidentally, Lasher performs with his own group, which has several gigs lined up in the coming days in Southern California. You can find out more information at AdamLasherBand.com.
