RepriseA new box set gathering together the recordings The Bee Gees made during the height of their fame and commercial success will be released on March 24.

Bee Gees: 1974-1979 is a five-CD collection featuring the four studio albums the sibling group issued during the mid to late 1970s, as well as a bonus disc that includes the band’s contributions to the smash 1977 Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, plus several B-sides and other non-album tunes.

The full-length Bee Gees studio efforts featured in the compilation are 1974’s Mr. Natural, 1975’s Main Course, 1976’s Children of the World and 1979’s Spirits Have Flown. While Mr. Natural featured no hits, it saw the Gibb brothers — Barry, Robin and Maurice — incorporating more funk, R&B and soul into their pop-rock sound, setting the stage for their emergence as one of the disco era’s biggest stars. Main Course included the chart-topping single “Jive Talkin'” and the top 10 hit “Nights on Broadway.”

Children of the World saw The Bee Gees delving fully into disco, exemplified by the #1 smash “You Should Be Dancing,” which also appeared on the following year’s Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. With Spirits Have Flown, The Bee Gees continued to fly high in the aftermath of the Saturday Night Fever phenomenon. Not only did the album top the Billboard 200, it yielded three #1 singles — “Too Much Heaven,” “Tragedy” and “Love You Inside Out.”

Bee Gees: 1974-1979 box set’s bonus disc, titled The Miami Years, includes the classic Saturday Night Fever tracks “Stayin’ Alive,” “How Deep Is Your Love,” “Night Fever” and “More than a Woman,” the first three of which all were #1 hits. Also featured are versions of “Emotion,” “Warm Ride,” “If I Can’t Have You” and “(Our Love) Don’t Throw It All Away,” songs that were heard in the Saturday Night Fever film but not included on the album. In addition, the CD features the B-sides “It Doesn’t Matter Much to Me” and “Rest Your Love on Me.”
